New look, new handle!

There's been a change!

Firstly, the site really needed a visual refresh. I'm hoping that folks find this new look cleaner, less disjointed, and overall just easier to use.

But also, you may notice a title and subdomain name change: "WIP Infinity" as opposed to "WIP Insanity". This is a change I've been wanting to make for quite some time, and it's going to be a long and ongoing project.

To explain: I chose my original handle ages ago - I think it's been over 20 years, actually. Its purpose was to reflect the idea that the volume and complexity of knitting projects which I enjoy taking on was pretty ridiculous. But in recent years, as I've tried to learn and grow and become more inclusive and aware, I realized (with horror) that this brand name uses language that can be stigmatizing for mental illness. I have been making an effort for some years now to replace this kind of language in my day-to-day vocabulary (pro tip: "ridiculous", "wild", "silly", "off the chain", etc., are terrific substitutes). But, unfortunately, it was an integral part of my business name.

And so, I've been working on making a change. I think "infinity" is not only super-close in sound and spelling, but also very nicely reflects the gargantuan proportions of my WIP collection, and my willingness to make and design patterns of any level of complexity.

As you can imagine, this will take some time, and will involve a lot of work, such as setting up a new domain name, repointing a ton of URLs, editing pattern files, etc. etc., the list is frighteningly long. Some things will be difficult if not impossible, such as changing social media handles. But here, the work has at least begun!

Hi, unrelated to knitting but are you the same Kathleen Sperling who published https://web.archive.org/web/19990221171511/http://www.interlog.com/~kms/Laadan ? If so, I just wanted to say I enjoyed your short stories there.
